New North American production facility in 2025
Westrafo is excited to announce the future opening of the new North American production facility.
Located in Trotwood, Ohio, the new site joins the existing plants in Italy (Vicenza) and Ghana (Tema). The investment in the United States represents an important step in Westrafo’s internationalization strategy, underlining its desire to get even closer to its customers with an efficient and timely service.
With an extension of 231.000 sqft the new site is going to be built according the latest construction technologies with the aim to become a point of reference for the production of medium voltage transformers and energy solutions in the US market.
The production is expected to start in July 2025 while the recruitment process will begin by the end of 2024. It’s expected to reach a production output of 12 GW per year starting from 2027. This production capacity will contribute significantly to meeting the growing demand for power distribution in the United States.
“Building on the principles that have guided our growth, such as innovation, sustainability, and strong customer focus, we believe it is crucial to invest in the country that is focusing more than any other on the development of an efficient and sustainable grid” said Westrafo CEO Alberto Cracco.
The official announcement was made on June 24th, 2024 during SelectUSA’s event in Washington in the presence of U.S. Ambassador to Italy Jake Markell, U.S. Department of Commerce Deputy Secretary Don Graves, JobOhio and Dayton Development Coalition.
This new opening not only represents a milestone for Westrafo Srl, but also an important contribution to Trotwood’s local economy, with the creation of numerous jobs and development opportunities for the community. The new North American production facility reflects Westrafo’s ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability, aiming to meet the energy needs of the future.
